Holy Week with the Partnership Churches – UPDATED

The Partnership Churches began Lent as one body in our Ash Wednesday service.  This year, the partnership churches have created a number of ways to come together over Holy Week.   You’re invited to continue the communal celebration through the offering of special partnership worship services.   The graphic above gives the full slate of services offered.

There are three services that have been collaboratively created by Rev. Brandon Duran (KCC), Rev. Kelly Ryan (The Table), and Rev. Mary Sue Berkshire (POV).  Here are more details on these special services.

Maundy Thursday Service – April 6th at 6:00pm at Pioneer Ocean View, UCC

This service is planned and implemented by leaders of Pioneer Ocean View, The Table UCC, and Kensington Community Church.  The service follows the story of Jesus’ final dinner with his friends in the upper room.  The service will include a soup supper, Holy Communion, and the traditional practice of foot washing.

Good Friday Service – April 7th at 7:00pm at Kensington Community Church

This service is planned and implemented by leaders of Kensington Community Church, The Table UCC, and Pioneer Ocean View.  The service follows the story of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and the Stations of the Cross.  The service will end in silence as Jesus’ death is remembered.

Good Friday Service Online – April 7th at 12:00pm with University City, UCC

Join Rev. Iona Dickinson virtually at 7:00pm.  You can access the online service on April 7th at 12 :00pm by clicking here.

Easter Sunrise Service – April 9th at 6:15am at The Table UCC in La Mesa

This service is planned and implemented by leaders of The Table UCC, Kensington Community Church, and Pioneer Ocean View.  The service will be a quiet beginning to a joyous day of new life.  The service will reference and reflect on early stories of Christ’s resurrection.

Easter Services at Kensington – April 9th at 8:30 & 10:30am

The Bible focuses more on the week between Psalm Sunday and Easter morning than any other time in the life of Jesus.  The week is filled with significant events that we regularly remember throughout the year and other sacred moments that are only truly lifted up during this special time.  I hope you are able to attend some of these special Holy Week services.

Feel free to contact Brandon with any questions or for more details.
