Join a meaningful and joyful expression of our faith as Kensington Community Church heads to Tijuana to build a home and bless a family. Come and be a part of the Annual Tijuana Mission Trip & Home Build, set for Friday & Saturday, June 23 & 24, 2023.
Casas de Luz has been building homes in Mexico since 2005 and, after the pandemic pause, KCC is ready to once again partner with Casas de Luz. This is a great way to build relationships with other church members, create lasting memories, and exercise your faith in a tangible way. Youth (rising 6th graders and up) and adults are welcome. Youth participants need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian and do not need a passport.
We are requesting financial donations totaling $6500 to cover the costs of a foundation for the home and building materials for the structure. To donate, go to the KCC Give Page and choose from PayPal or the Vanco App (specify for “Casas de Luz Wish List”). Or, you can always mail a check to the church, or drop a donation in the prayer box at the back of the sanctuary. Participants will meet at the church on June 23 and caravan across the border together.
The cost of the service trip is $80 per person. This covers transportation, lodging (clean and comfortable family-style rooms), and the Friday night dinner. Scholarships are available. Please contact Pastor Brandon if you would like to know more about scholarships for this trip. We do not want cost to be the reason someone does not participate. Our goal is to have a minimum of 20 volunteers. Invite your friends or coworkers to come, this is an inclusive event!
“What if I don’t have home-building skills?” Don’t worry; you are in good company. We will work with Casas de Luz master builders to build a prefabricated home for a family in the Tijuana area.
